Pasta de dente clareia os dentes??? / Toothpaste whiten teeth??

 Dentes brancos e hálito puro. É o que promete a maior parte das propagandas de pastas dentais. Algumas, além da função de fornecer flúor e ajudar a retirar a placa bacteriana, pegam carona na procura pelo clareamento dental e incluem na composição substâncias que prometem remover manchas. A Pro Teste (associação brasileira de defesa do consumidor) verificou sete marcas de pasta de dentes com efeito branqueador e concluiu que algumas realmente clareiam,mas nem tanto. Para fazer o teste, foram aplicados três mil movimentos circulares em amostras de dentes humanos, o que equivale à escovação de um mês. O efeito clareador das pastas é superficial segundo a pesquisa. Pastas especiais somente podem evitar e controlar as manchas superficiais de pigmentos de café ou cigarro, mas não alterar a cor do dente nem evitar o amarelamento. O clareamento pode ser feito por diferentes técnicas e a escolha vai depender também do que o paciente deseja. Para um efeito mais imediato, o indicado é o procedimento no consultório. Em casa, pode ser usada uma substância à base de gel, com orientação do dentista. O perigo das pastas dentais branqueadoras,está na substância usada para o prometido clareamento. Muitas vezes são utilizados agentes abrasivos para remover manchas e isto pode provocar desgaste dental, principalmente em áreas de raiz exposta, o que gera aumento de sensibilidade do dente. O uso constante destas pastas também pode levar ao desgaste do esmalte que protege o dente. Portanto,creme dental com agente clareador pode ser um bom ajudante na manutenção de clareamento feito em consultório ou com orientação do dentista,mas nunca um agente clareador total e eficaz agindo por si só.
